Speaking of bad movies

A hat tip to my man in Philly for bringing to my attention one of the best reviews of anything by anyone I have ever read. I'd not heard of Mark Keizer before, but he does it way right here on his review of the DVD release of Crash.

Inside a horrible film

Here's a really short blast on the movie Inside Man, that I posted at Netflix.com after my friend complained, justly, that I didn't warn him about it.

There are spoilers within, but so what. This movie spoiled a whole afternoon for me.

Without a doubt the worst movie so far of 2006.

Everything most people have said about this movie is 180 degrees wrong. It's not smart, not interesting, not well-acted and doesn't have an ingenious plot. The characters don't act like real cops and robbers would act in real life, not even a little bit.

The minute I saw Christopher Plummer on the screen I thought to myself (no joking), I bet he's actually a crook with a deep, dark secret like being a Nazi or something. And guess what.

Add that to Spike Lee's everpresent, hamfisted, overdone racial BS (by this time, EVERYONE knows the difference between a Sikh and an Arab or Muslim, certainly every NYC cop.) and geez.

I would have had more fun stepping on a rake.

What would Jack Bauer do?

Here's the latest BE column, about 24 and a couple of other good TV shows.

Also, here is the Sopranos/Abe Lincoln piece some people missed.

My new column

I've just started what will be a regular pop culture, media and politics column at the new Baltimore Examiner newspaper. It should run once a week, give or take.

I had two pieces run this week, one of which is online here.

Here are PDF files for each:
